En un entorno jóven y urbano, ser vegetariano no es nada raro. Pero sí fue algo raro cuando decidí a dejar de comer animales a los 11 años en un pueblo alemán – llevó varios años para comprender que hay todo un movimiento detrás de esa idea. Y tampoco fue algo común en el barco de la ONG japonesa Peace Boat, donde sólo una minoría se consideraban vegetarianos. Sin embargo, había un gran interés en la idea, así que decidió organizar algunos eventos sobre el tema. Tuvimos tres activistas latinoamericanos de la ONG Amigos de la Tierra a bordo – ellos tambien vegetarianos. No podían estar en el evento, pero aparicieron en mi video.
¿Por qué se abstienen de comer animales, ¿qué se siente al ser vegetariano en países tan carnefilos como Argentina, Chile o Brasil?

In young urban surroundings, being vegetarian is nothing uncommon. But it has been when I decided to stop eating animals at age 11 in rural Germany – it took me several years to see that there is actually a movement behind that idea. And it has been uncommon on the vessel of the Japanese NGO Peace Boat, where only a minority considered themselves vegetarians. Still, there was a big interest in the idea, so we decided to organise some events on the topic. We had three Latin American activists of Friends of the Earth onboard, who were vegetarians themselves. They could not be in the event, but had their guest appearance in this video.
